Aircar Review

A beautiful glimpse into what makes VR Special

Reviewed by Griffin on 27th October 2020 on Windows Mixed Reality

Aircar is a simple free VR experience putting you in a Futuristic Sci-fi city with really no objectives but to fly around in your hover car and explore the city.

Specs used:

i7 7770k

GTX 1080Ti

16GB Ram

HP Reverb

Xbox One Controller

Graphics & Presentation

Visually this game is really pretty and probably one of the best looking VR games to date, which is surprising given that's its free. The game is also constantly under heavy rain which looks really cool in VR and is very atmospheric.

Sound FX & Music

There is not much in the way of sound, though a few of the sound effects most noticeably the Turbo sound effect could be made a little more impactful.

Gameplay & Immersion

There is little in the way of actual gameplay except to fly around and explore. There are a few little easter eggs or events of sorts but I will leave those for you to discover rather than have me spoil them.

There is also no crashing animation simply fading to black and resetting when you hit something.

The game does not support Motion controls, instead you will need to use a Gamepad. I used an Xbox One controller. Support for WMR headsets was good with no issues I could find

Value & Replayability

Being Free the value is excellent, Replayability maybe not a whole ton unless you just like to look around and explore.

Final Thoughts

Aircar is definitely worth checking out for anyone new to VR, into Sci-fi Blade Runner like cities, looking for free experiences, or looking for pretty landscapes to test their new high resolution headset with.

  • Free!
  • Visually incredible to look at
  • No Motion control support
